Managing Anger or Grief

Most women describe shock, anguish, loss, anger, guilt, regret, anxiety, fear, loneliness, unhappiness, depression, intrusive images, depersonalization, and the feeling of being overwhelmed as few of their sentient states while grieving. Grief can affect your appetite and lead to changes in weight. It can affect sleep and leave you feeling very tired. It can also lead to stomach aches, headaches and body aches. While most women may tend to express grief more openly, they often don't feel justified in feeling angry, so they hide anger or push it down. Anger in women is a secondary emotion to a bigger, more underlying issue or emotion. Women may be more susceptible to anger from problems related to their mental health. Since women tend to be more emotional and to actively work on dealing with their grief, they might experience with their grief more effectively, by processing it successfully.

How do we help

Counselling women for anger has been very helpful as it provides them with the opportunity to talk about their feelings and learn strategies for managing their anger more healthily. Our guided exercises encourage mindfulness, meditation, or movement which are great to help them manage and release their anger. Our advisory on techniques such as journaling, writing, or self-care can also be helpful for learning how to deal with frustration and anger specially in women. Women are more prone to broken heart syndrome. Grief counseling can help you develop strategies to deal or manage grief during the recovery process.  We help you share and talk about your loss which is an important part of healing. We encourage you to express your feelings. Embracing grief and accepting that all feelings are okay and all are both a normal and necessary part of healing.
