Overcoming General Stress & Anxiety
Women have Unique Pressures. In General, the physiological differences led hormonal changes, the socio-cultural societal framework, disproportionate caregiving / childcare & domestic tasks as well as lower financial independence adds a lot to it. In the office too, they face the pressure of unequal pay, not being valued equally or given credit for their accomplishments, and being looked over when it comes to promotions due to pre-existing bias. Women have often been socialized to say yes to any and all requests, while facing pressure to look good doing it. In addition, female students reported stress-related issues, such as low self-esteem, pressure from exams. Higher levels of general and academic stress were also shown to be greater in female students. Common physical symptoms of study or work stress in women include: Headaches, difficulty sleeping, tiredness, pain (most commonly in the back and neck), overeating or under eating, skin problems, lack of energy and upset stomach. Lack of focus, irritability and being in low mood are also some symptoms.
